APOP is a software to compute APOP challenges. If you don't know what APOP challenges are, have a look at RFC 1460.
Installation is done like any other Newton package. Consult your Newton Package Installation software for details.
Tap the APOP icon in Extras. Then enter your password, the server as it authentified and the challenge. All this information is saved in the prefs, so you normally only have to enter your password once (and the clock part of the challenge won't change much between calls).
The digest is computed dynamically everytime you change a field. Once you entered all the information, type the digest on the desktop computer.
APOP adds the brackets and the arobace for you.
