Why aren't the v-cards the latest Internet innovation?
The v-cards are very painful. Some software put the attached files in a folder. Therefore this folder is filled with v-cards. These files are totally useless since only few software can read them. |
The official interest of v-cards is to allow to add with a single click the contact info of the sender in your address file. If it's to add the address and the name of the sender, correct mail clients allow to do that from the menus. For example, Simple Mail. |
If you put other data in your v-cards such as your snail mail address, it is only useful by persons having a software able to read the v-cards and who also use the built-in cardfile to store such data. It's a bad idea because such software are usually the most vulnerable to attacks using ActiveX or Visual Basic and therefore prepubertal lammers may be able to access this data.
In a nutshell, v-cards pollute the network and the hard drives without bringing any enhancement. Because he or she was tired of cleaning his/her hard drive, the person you sent this message to has installed this filter.
How can I deactivate v-cards with Netscape?
To send your message, you'll need to deactivate the v-cards.
For Netscape, this setting is changed in the preferences. Click on identity. Then uncheck the box "Attach my personal card...". Click on OK. Congratulation, you managed it. |
Where can I find a better mail client?
