I discovered the Newton with my faithful MessagePad US MP2000 (later upgraded to 2100), which I bought in October 1997. It was quite
different from any computer I used before. The user experience has nothing to do with what has been done before (the closest user experience is
SELF desktop).
I found the development tools and the documentation on the Internet (see the FAQ for many links, for example on this
mirror). I also discovered on the Internet, as I was looking for help, the Newton Community mainly centered on the
NewtonTalk mailing list and the Usenet newsgroups.
I owe nearly everything to this community of developers and Newton users.
