More WiFi Cards
More WiFi Cards is a patch to use Hiroshi Noguchi's driver with more cards. The current version is based on the list of compatible cards of FreeBSD's wi(4) driver (which derives from the same source code than Hiroshi's driver). The table below presents the list of compatible cards.
Some cards have an identification string of more than 31 characters. These only work if Lantern Patch is installed.
More WiFi Cards is an open source project.
Important: Hiroshi does not advise to use 3.3v cards because they could produce definitive damages to your Newton. Experiences sometimes are different, but I could not be held responsible if More WiFi Cards produced any damage to your Newton or to your cards. USE OF MORE WIFI CARDS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Note: GetCardInfo allows one to extract the idenfitication string of card inserted in the Newton and More WiFi Cards probably can be extended to support more cards that would work with Hiroshi's driver.
This chart displays the name of the cards supported by FreeBSD's driver. Chipset is deduced from various sources and may be inaccurate. Index is some necessary parameter of FreeBSD's driver and is included for information purposes (a card with an auto index is more likely to work).
Support for some cards is built into Hiroshi's driver, hence they do not require this patch. They are listed here (in italics) for information purposes. Please let me know if any of the unconfirmed card proved to work.
3.3v cards are not supported by Hiroshi. They may work in MP2x00. They do not work in eMates.
5v cards work in eMates and MP2x00s.
